Having now read this document available on the Academy Company website it is clear in my mind that this consultation is simply a PR exercise for a single site Academy.
Have a read for yourself and see what conclusion you come to.
PS
MC2 and Mouchel are nowhere near as good as concocting a biased consultation document as Cumbria County Council and CN Group Research are!
Another one captured for posterity!
Delivered online 14th December and captured for posterity
Once again Mike Parr takes Douglas to task. Sadly this is only a short interview and Douglas avoids directly answering any questions. Seems his private talk with John Hutton revolved around 'How to avoid answering a direct question, NuLabour style!'
Here we go again back in the Evening Mail's fantasy land of Exclusive Interviews. In case it hadn't noticed, and clearly it hasn't, there are NO OTHER LOCAL PAPERS so every flaming interview it gets is an 'exclusive'.
Well the Evening Mail sent in a key information gatherer to the Furness Academy Company school buildings and she came up with this article. My eldest son has read it through and he said it jars with a lot of the view points of the Year 11's and 10's he has contact with so what do you think?
This practice is alive and well in 21st Century Britain and Barrow is one of the 'deprived' areas being aided by a structural Academy, an massive increase in vocational qualifications and a corresponding decrease in academic qualifications.
This saddens me because...
Well it's nearly the end of the first week of Furness Academy Limited
actually getting down to the business of educating the children in it's
care.
As with all new schools there has been a few problems with timetabling,
some lessons missing, some kids 'double booked' for example which is
too be expected given the short time the timetable compiler has had to
integrate three totally different school systems into one as well as
try and 'meld' four different curriculum's into the school day.
She has used the Evening Mail's learning supplement to put forwards her point of view about what the new company which she helped bring into existence will do for 40% of Barrows secondary children over the coming months and years.
Everything that arrived on my doormat this morning.
