Except I wish it were true!
Just in case there are any 'revelations' I am recording the Q and A here for posterity...

He is holding yet another brain numbing webchat with his favourite mouthpiece.
Where are all the state secondary heads webchats?
Submit a question using this form... and then run a book on the chances of it being answered by the now bronzed Academy Principal! (spotted in Tesco recently, with his good lady sporting deep brown tans. The mail will have to get some new pictures done.)

(spotted in Tesco recently, with his good lady sporting deep brown tans. The mail will have to get some new pictures done.)As you may have now gathered I have decided to keep this blog going for another 12 months.
I have to say I was wavering until the Academy inexplicably failed to release its GCSE results into the public domain.
I cannot to understand why the schools principal has taken this decision.
I cannot understand why the schools sponsors have allowed him to take this decision.
I cannot understand why the schools governors have allowed him to take this decision.
I cannot understand how the DCSF are not forcing this school to release its figures.
I cannot understand why no staff member has spoke out about this abject failure.

This article was brought to my attention recently by an 'interested party' and it contains some interesting comments.
I know hindsight is a wonderful thing but plenty of people could SEE what was going to happen back in February of 2009.

Breaking news. Mr Gove has effectively mothballed 73 Academies building schemes.
He has given the go ahead to 77 that were well into the planning/awarding contracts/building process.
At this stage I am still unclear which group Furness is in. I'll keep digging but if anyone else knows the answer please comment as always.

I think there is some confusion here. Gove cancelled 123 schools scheduled to become Academies in 2010-2011.
The ones on this list are Academies that already exist but have no new buildings up yet.
As you can seen Furness is not on this list so what is going on?
Full list after the jump...

Doug has once more demonstrated his inate ability to spout a lot without actually saying anything in the pages of the local paper.
Continue reading Words Fail Me! Well nearly..
It's been a while coming but at last Douglas has added some more pearls of wisdom to the frankly dire Furness Academy web site. Assuming it is still being operated by MC2 it begs the question how does the company manage to stay in business?
From the Principal 25th June 2010
Our Summer term is now well underway and I am very pleased with the dedication our students have been showing towards their studies and the energy which they have been putting into the wider activities at the Academy.
The year 11 have been working their way through the exam timetable and, with only a few exams still remaining, students can now start to look forward to their well deserved break. I am sure that the commitment that students have shown will stand them in good stead with their results in August.
Away from the classroom we have seen some great teamwork on the sports field with the year 10 Cricket team getting to the final of the Cumbria schools county Twenty20 competition. The team who were ultimately runners up to Sedburgh School, beat St Bernard' Catholic High School, Chetwynde School and Dallam School on their way to the final round.
Finally, good luck to our students who have been entered into the Royal British Student Artists exhibition at the Royal College of Art and the Spririted Arts competition. The Academy is very proud to hear of our students contributing to such highly respected national competitions and I wish you the best of luck for the next stage.
Best wishes,
Mr. Blackledge
