Does Anyone Know...

why the Furness Academy Limited website run by MC2 Limited is still down and has been for some considerable time?

Here's a reminder of how MC2 see themselves and how Mrs Attwood, co-sponsor of the Academy and Director of  Furness Academy Limited the company which engaged and pays MC2 Limited, loves the "work" they produce.
case study
Furness Academy

Where they were
- Negative profile in the regional media
- Lack of engagement with stakeholders
- Miscommunication of information by outside parties
- Associated with events happening at a nearby failing Academy

Where they wanted to be
- Community and stakeholder support for the Academy
- Stakeholders engaged in the development of the Academy and kept informed of progress
- Accurate and positive reflection of Academy developments in the local media

What MC2 did
- Organised and facilitated a major community consultation programme
- Implemented a targeted regional media relations campaign to raise awareness of the benefits of the Academy and key milestones
- Minimised negative media coverage through crisis communications
- Implemented a comprehensive stakeholder engagement plan to communicate Academy developments
- Worked with key stakeholders and the wider community to develop a brand identity for the Academy
- Designed an interim and main website for the Academy
- Liaised with students and parents to develop the uniform
- Produced supporting marketing material

The results
- Engaged more than 700 people through the consultation programme, with 80% finding the sessions useful and informative
- Developed a positive relationship with the local media resulting in a significant turnaround in media coverage
- Involved more than 1800 students and community members in developing the brand identity
- Achieved more than 25,000 hits on the interim website

Awesome aren't they?
Liars but awesome!

And Mrs Attwood said this

"MC2 is an integral part of the project team for Barrow Academy and their expertise, passion and commitment to the delivery of the project has been invaluable.
"Not only has the team been instrumental in delivering a proactive media campaign but they managed the community consultation programme with precision from inception to completion, ensuring that the sponsors and project management team were at all times fully briefed and aware of key issues and timelines.

They are excellent at managing the complex stakeholder issues that surround the project and have at all times be consultative and considered in their approach while ensuring that all critical deadlines have been met.

"Their work is always delivered on time to the highest standard. They are a dedicated team of professionals and I look forward to working with them in the future as the project comes alive."
Anne Attwood
Principal of Furness College and Co-Sponsor of the Academy

So either Mrs Attwood lives in cloud cuckoo land or there is another side to MC2 that has yet to show itself here in Barrow!

I really think that Derek should now retire from this daily delusional diatribe. I, along with most other readers, became bored with the persistent pre-occupation many months ago. I do feel very sad for him. What may have started as an altruistic concern for the students of Barrow, very quickly turned into one man's full-time obsession with berating one (imo wholly inculpable) person in particular. Anne Attwood has done wonders for our town and Barrovians and she continues to be a forward-thinking champion, delivering excellence.

Derek - Please do try to avoid the 'incisive' comebacks. They come across as simply petty and quite obsessively strange.

Perhaps you could take up a sport or a martial art to help you deal with your misplaced aggression?

No-one forces you to read it do they?
Perhaps they do as you say you have became bored months ago so why are you back today passing on your opinion that all readers are bored with this blog?
Looks like you've picked up another troll Derek.
You must be getting somewhere.

If you were bored with this blog many months ago, why are you still reading it you fool? Go and see your doctor , he will put you on tablets.

On the contrary, many staff read this blog and support everything that is said. It is currently the only way to hold the academy to account. I have had several dealings with Ms atwood and have found her uninspirational, lacking vision, a poor communicator and not the brightest penny in the jar. In fact, the female douglas. Keep up the good work derek.

Derek you are far too close to the bone and have touched a really raw nerve - well done you! Other contributers are quite right - "barrowgoingplaces" if you dont like what you read, dont read it - but of course you will because its too close to home not to!

Im afraid 'barrowgoingplaces' is a tad delusional as the title of the name suggests! I can confirm that the vast majority of staff read this and many other educationists. Not only is it highly incisive, it accurately unpicks the spin to get to the truth. The academy is failing this town and the sponsors shoud hang their heads in shame.

Oh joy. Three Derek supporters. scary (seriously).
Look guys, don't be silly. think it through. I haven't been onto this blog for months, and when I return, Derek's even more obsessed.
How sad that it needs explaining, but I guess.......

History shows that stranger people have had followings.

This 'troll' bows down to superior trolls to allow them to continue their misunderstood lives.

over and out.

As an experienced school leader and qualified headteacher, I wholeheartedly agree with my fellow supporters of this site. The government seems determined to ruin educational standards and teachers are deserting the job in droves. The academy epitomises all that is wrong with education and shame on those who let it happen. Derek your efforts are applauded by many.

Hello Barrowgoingplaces
Thank you for your advice, your opinions and assumptions. It is for now a free country and I welcome constructive criticism of my efforts to try and figure out what is really going on here in Barrow, in the Cumbrian Academies programme and in the currently Labour run DCSF. Pity you chose not to add anything useful.

If you do not like what is written here then why bother coming to read it?
Just delete the bookmark or forget that this blog exists.
Why waste a few minutes of your time telling me I am a deluded, aggressive, full time obsessive?

Mary Whitehouse springs to mind, on reading your comments, as she used to watch sex scenes and listen to swearing on television just so she could then protest about them. She never seemed to notice that all televisions came equipped with an off button!

Well this interweb thingy is even easier to 'switch off' as there are far more interesting things to read, look at or listen to than this blog which exists to provide some small measure of public accountability as the Labour government, it's ministers and Cumbria County Council have systematically removed it from over half of Barrows secondary education provision.

Derek
PS
The MC2 run Furness Academy Limited website IS STILL DOWN!

Unlike parkview, the academy has a 56k Director of ict, thats computing to you and me. So i would expect the website to be of a high standard. They also have more ict technicians than parkview. Perhaps they are all far too busy...

she continues to be a forward-thinking champion, delivering excellence.

Are there two Anne Attwoods as that doesn't describe the one I know!
