After all this mornings gloom about the way in which the country is really being run a story which gladdens the heart.
Firstly it shows how incompetent Doug is as a leader of a school.
Secondly is shows how mad some of the policies of Evangelical schools really are.
Thirdly it shows that no matter what crap life throws at you there is a way round it!

He achieved his long-standing ambition two years after he hit the headlines as the latest victim of Trinity's strict rules on haircuts. The college told Aiden his short, blond cut was unacceptable.
He had tried to dye it light brown, but it turned ginger. Then he tried to return it to its natural blond state - but the school said the colour was the wrong shade of blond.
School rules insist hair should be its natural colour.
Aiden was suspended for two weeks, but returned to lessons after his family threatened to take the school to the High Court in London for unlawful suspension.
Today he is the toast of the school after making the grade in the elite regiment.
Academy principal Ian Brew said: "The green beret is a coveted symbol which represents a tremendous achievement and all that is best in the services.
"We hope the time Aiden spent at Trinity helped him in the pursuit of his chosen career.
"We are very proud of him. He is a credit to himself and his family. We wish him every success in the future and we will continue to watch his progress with interest."
The 17-year-old from Thorne joined the Marines after using his stamina to successfully complete a feared 30-mile speed march which potential new recruits must finish.
He also had to prove his physical endurance and mental strength, living on the land and sleeping rough in wet and cold conditions. Aiden will now head to Portugal, Scotland and Norway for further specialist training in different climates. Then he will go on to serve in conflict zones such as Afghanistan.
During his time at Trinity Academy, Aiden was one of the top sporting performers, being cross-country champion for the school and for his house. And he has also won the Navy and Marines Cross-Country Championships. He hopes to become a physical training instructor after forging a career in the Marines.
There you go.
In spite of lunacy from the school he succeeded. Nice of Mr Brew to say 'they' are proud of him when he and Doug threw this lad out of school for having the 'wrong hair' isn't it?
More faces than the town hall clock Mr Brew. Billy Graham has a lot to answer for.
He's good enough for the Marines but not good enough for the Evangelicals and our Dougie!

Aiden was excluded from Trinity for 'bad hair'. His mum, Karen, had endless meetings to try to get him back into school.
Brew usually let Doug deal with it all. At one meeting Doug called him an 'albino'. In the end they started proceedings for a judicial review and he was back in school the next day. The solicitor even branded Trinity's exclusions 'illegal' in the press.
Aiden went to Trinity for the photo shoot - mum is livid that Brew got in on the act to gain some credit.
And finally this
Ian brew said this at a party in Thorne recently. 'Oh yes Doug Blackledge, he's now gone to Barrow to run an academy but is finding it very traumatic'.
Remember Doug himself may not be an Evangelical but he has had years of Evangelical indoctrination into 'how to run a school the Evangelical way'!

The person responsible for Doug being in a traumatic situation is the person who said 'we'll keep this quiet and give you a good reference'.The right thing to do was to have courage and show Doug the door with a glowing reference to give cornet lessons ONLY
Aiden Redmile on joining the commandos stated that the discipline was NOT as bad as at the Trinity Academy!
Trinity Academy nearly destroyed everything that Aiden Redmile worked for at school. He always wanted to join the commandos but because he was suspended by Blackledge all his dreams were potentially shattered.
The perseverance of his mum, who fought hard to have him reinstated, and his own hard work are what enabled Aiden to be such a success. If Blackledge had got his own way Aidens army career would have been consigned to the scrap heap.
