These two sets of numbers are VERY revealing. The Expression of Interest document used to try and procure these two colleges control of secondary education in Barrow states that there is a 'poor' take up of further education in Barrow. The actual numbers would suggest that this is yet another lie. This time quite a biggie.
The Sixth form college population is pretty static over the four years
Furness college starts with a low year plateaus around 950 and ends the four years on a high.
There is NO EVIDENCE on these numbers that there are falling numbers of kids entering further education.
There is no EVIDENCE that the real drop of 251 kids on the secondary school rolls over this period is reflected in the numbers entering further education.
As I have PROVEN the real numbers secondary drop is 251 so the fact that the colleges rolls DO NOT DROP by 251 or more can only mean one thing
THE NUMBERS GOING INTO FURTHER EDUCATION IN BARROW ARE RISING
Amazingly we have both colleges and both principals blatantly lying to the government in the Expression Of Interest document which is seen and approved by a minister!
The DCSF, the minister who read and approved it show a gross incompetence by not actually checking through what is written in this document is factually correct.
I have rarely in my 48 years come across a document that really can be called a tissue of lies but by god the Expression of Interest document that was handed into HM Government and crafted by Enid Fraser, Roger Alston and the rest of the FEC IS A TISSUE OF LIES.
I cannot believe how corrupt this whole process is. It's got nothing to do with 'raising aspiration' improving results or whatever grandiose imaginings pour forth from the FEC, the sponsors, the DCSF, the County Council. It's all to do with 'getting their way'.
I would be delighted to hear from either Anne Attwood or David Kelly why they decided to lie on this document, in the name of their colleges, or from any governor who gave their backing to these lies which was signed and sent to HM Government but I have more chance of kissing the Pope's backside than any of these people answering this question.
