The OSANFS meeting yesterday evening showed everyone who attended just why the make up of the County Council HAS to change if Cumbria is to have across the board year on year improvements.
I am not going to name him because if nothing else he had the balls or the brass neck, whichever is your point of view, to actually attend the meeting and not sit at home in silence like the rest of his colleagues who you and I elected to represent our views and have taken no part whatsoever in any of the recent debate surrounding the kids protest.
Shame on them.
They must be terrified of 'saying the wrong thing' or being seen to be 'on the losing side'.

I have no idea whether he was attending as a member of the public, a Borough councillor, a County councillor or as a Party observer. With hindsight I should have asked him!
However he was actually there so kudos to him for that.
There was some 'silliness' at the door where he got in at the third attempt but this was no different to the silliness shown by the Mouchel 'bouncers' who attended every single 'consultation' meeting to keep away who they assumed to be 'undesirables'.
However once into the meeting he didn't stay long and all he seemed to want to do was get over his threat of legal action because of some allegedly misleading wording in a political leaflet!
Thing is honestly who cares if the wording says 'council' or cabinet?
Most of these leaflets travel from doormat to bin, sorry recycling box, without ever being looked at like all the rest of the junk mail!
Either way the elected Liberal and Conservative councillors threw their toys out of the pram months ago and stopped representing their electorates views in Cabinet Meetings giving the remaining Labour councillors free rein to vote through or vote down whatever they wanted and they have taken full advantage and if that isn't a failure to represent voters correctly I don't know what is..
What I am at a loss to understand is why the government hasn't taken any action to sort the mess out. I have a theory that it might be party politics at play but that's all it is a theory.
Much like the 'what Dave Roberts did or didn't do' argument on the Evening Mail comment boards it is a silly diversion from the fact this County Council as it currently stands can only muster an ADEQUATE rating from the Audit Office and frankly that just is not good enough. Cumbria deserves better and should demand better.
For comparison with this silliness here is another election leaflet from last years Borough Council elections where the independents stormed it. Lets hope that they do the same again and make the big party dinosaurs extinct once and for all!
